In Elizabethan Era the roles of the women were very limited and were very brutal. The Elizabethans had a very clear expectation of men of women. The men were breadwinners and women were mothers and housewives. It was believed that women always needed someone to look after them. If they had a husband he had to take to care of them. If they was single, then their father had to take care of them. Women was not allow to law, medicine, politics but they could work as a maids and female painters. If a woman was married they was seen as highly desirable by all women of lower classes. With parental permission it was legal for Elizabethan girls to marry at 12 although it was not usual for marriages at such at their age. The judgments and perceptions of women were portrayed in a negative way and misunderstood.
